Workshop: GST/HST Charities Outreach
Presented by: Michael Monk & Anna Zurat, CPA, CGA
Were you aware that there is specific GST/HST legislation that applies only to charities? Would you be interested in learning how to maximize GST/HST entitlements for your charity clients? You will hear more about these, and other topics, in this Canada Revenue Agency workshop on the recently introduced initiative called GST/HST Charities Outreach.
GST/HST Charities Outreach is intended to help new charities “get it right from the start”. The goal is to assist them through on-site, in person, education. During an Outreach visit, the Outreach Officer will meet with the charity representative(s) to discuss current and planned activities. The idea is to explain not only about the charity’s GST/HST obligations, but also about its entitlements – today and in the future.
In this workshop, we will discuss topics the Outreach Officers cover during a visit. Plus, we will provide you with some legislative references. Subjects will include:
Taxable, exempt and zero-rated supplies
Differentiating between (full) Input Tax Credits and (partial) rebates
Books and records for keeping GST/HST
